Epic Family Holidays on Safari!

Are you trying to think of creative ways to enhance the typical family holidays which you've been taking the clan on for years? The easiest way to achieve this is by ditching all the typical touristy resorts and destinations that everyone seems to go to. These include Greece, Spain and Central America. Africa is a huge continent with miles of potential. It's also perfect for family holidays as there's an abundance of family-orientated activities, including the magnificent safaris! This is a great idea if you want to spice up the standard holidays that you've been going on in recent years.

You'll be surprised at just how many tour operators there are in Kenya, which makes this nation an idyllic place to visit. Make sure you do some research before you depart, and have in mind a couple of safari companies that you've heard positive news about. You don't want to end up being taken advantage of and spending an absolute fortune.

There is generally an armed guide on board too, should he be needed! One of the most popular game reserves is the Mount Kenya National Park which covers an area of 715 square metres and was awarded World Heritage status in 1997. Common game seen here are giraffes, elephants, buffalo and several species of antelope.

There are also quite a lot of rare animals here, which is a great reason to visit. It's a lot more interesting that the cows, sheep and rabbits that you find running around the British countryside. Here there are Bongo antelopes as well as the big cats, including lions, cheetahs and leopards! The African Wild Dog Conservancy is active in preserving the habitats of rare dog packs and instigating breeding programmes in the wild, and there's lots of information on this too.

Hyenas are incredible animals of Africa. Those interested in getting good sightings of these should head to Mount Kenya! Late holiday deals here are nothing short of spectacular.
